Call 1-800-339-4253 or send us an email to make reservations for your students to be part of the Capt. Bill and Sons research team on a whale watching trip. Your young scientists will be provided with a brief introduction to marine mammals before leaving portside, then we'll get right to it, heading out toward the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary or Jeffreys Ledge to see what we can see.
The season for whale watching trips begins in May with tours taken twice daily Monday through Sunday. See our spring schedule for departure times, but note that these may vary and it's a good idea to call ahead to check on the ETA. The summer schedule, when whale watching trips are most popular, we recommend reservations. These begin in June and extend through Labor Day. On some occasions, we are able to provide an additional tour at 1:00 pm. The fall season runs through September and October. See the schedule provided as tour times shift as daylight decreases.

If you have an educational tour planned, feel free to contact us if you need additional tips on preparing your students for the big day. We are dedicated to fostering stewardship of our marine world and will happily point you to some excellent resources. Of course, you can direct budding naturalists to our Talk Whales page at any time if they'd like to get a head start.
And feel free to introduce your students to those they may meet aboard the Miss Cape Ann. Visit our Boat & Crew page to find out about the specially designed whale watch vessel they'll be sailing on. They'll "meet" the many experienced crew members who will take care of everything from running the ship and providing fascinating details about the marine life in Stellwagen Bank or Jeffreys Ledge, to helping you with your active "pod" of learners.
After a whale watching trip, your young "whale experts" can visit the Nautical Gift and Souvenir Shop and pick up something as a memento of their big adventure. Nearby is the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center that features a Sea Pocket Lab, perfect for hands on experiences with the sea creatures found along the Cape Ann coast.
